Committees are designed to provide valuable services and information to the membership. There are two types of committees: administrative and professional emphasis groups. The committees sponsor workshops and make our views known to various governmental agencies. Becoming a member of a committee provides an opportunity for leadership, career development, education and networking.
Advocacy Committee

Goals: Encourages legislative advocacy. Enables MM SHRM members to influence the outcome of federal and state legislation through education, opportunities for involvement and to provide a voice to legislators on workplace issues.
Methods: By networking with legislators and keeping MM SHRM members up to date on changes in the law through publications, meetings and with the aid of SHRM's HR VOICE resource.
Benefits: Committee members become aware of and involved in legislative issues that have a direct impact on their role as an HR professional within their organization.

Goals: Promote Professional Development via the certification process as defined by SHRM-HRCI with an objective to certify as many members as possible.
Methods: Information provided at committee workshops, via the newsletter, at monthly membership meetings and through MM SHRM's Certification Study Group.
Benefits: Exciting opportunities to enhance one's own professional development as well as raising the standards for the association and the profession.

Goals: To ensure all communications for the Human Resource Management Association of Southeastern Wisconsin enhance the brand and support the strategy.
Methods:Continuously improve and maintain the Human Resource Management Association Website, Resource Newsletter, and various other communication mediums in promoting strategic objectives, member activities, and the professional image within the organization and business community at large.
Benefits:Opportunity to help move the Human Resource Management Association of Southeastern Wisconsin forward, promoting the value to the membership, and business community while networking and gaining insight into branding, marketing and effective communication.

Goals: Provides a liaison between MM SHRM and area universities keeping student SHRM chapters informed of activities related to the HR profession.
Methods: By developing and supporting ongoing relationships between faculties and student chapters and by providing programs and communication to stimulate activity within MM SHRM.
Benefits: Committee members aid in practical guidance to students interested in the HR fields and provide a professional network to help stimulate their growth and career development. Also helps to bridge the transition from student membership to professional membership.
Social Events & Community Outreach Kim Wengler 414-977-2629
Goals: Develop alliances with community groups and organizations with a focus on identifying volunteer opportunities that utilize HR knowledge and experience.
Methods: A partnership is formed with Journey House, where HR professionals can contribute their expertise in the delivery of services that this community organization provides. Additionally, the Community Outreach Committee researches and develops alliances with other charitable organizations where members can volunteer their skills and promote our profession.
Benefits: The Community Outreach Committee provides a great opportunity to network with other HR professionals, make a difference in our community, and advance the profession.

Goals: To provide a variety of resources with which to educate HR Professionals on employment practices of member organizations, including employee relations and employment law issues and trends.
Methods: By planning and hosting two educational programs annually, creating publications on timely topics, and conducting roundtable discussions to exchange information at monthly meetings.
Benefits: The committee has a strong membership of experienced HR professionals, providers of HR services and employment attorneys that have engaging and informative roundtable discussions to increase practical knowledge while providing excellent networking. Members also have opportunities to utilize their leadership skills to become a committee chairperson, facilitate speaker programs or be a participant in the speaker programs.

Goals: To provide a networking activity that enhances the personal relationships within MM SHRM.
Methods: By providing a purely social activity in a shotgun start/scramble format that doesn't require golf skills, and hosting a networking dinner and prize raffle to follow the event.
Benefits: A great way to meet new friends and contacts in a low-pressure event that requires minimal time commitment and no special skills in the sport.

Goals: To educate and inform MM SHRM and its members on the use, trends and value of HR technology in an effort to help organizations meet their strategic business objectives.
Methods: The committee provides networking opportunities for colleagues through regularly scheduled committee meetings and round tables, period programs and other events.
Benefits: Committee members establish worthwhile contacts, learn what other companies are doing and keep up to date on current trends in HR technology.

Goals: To serve the professional by being an information resource to MM SHRM members on performance and development issues, and continually foster professional development within the committee membership. To advance the profession by identifying key issues facing local businesses and offering resources to our members and the companies they serve. Grow the organization through networking at meetings and program offerings.
Methods: Discuss topics at each committee meeting that broaden members' knowledge of performance and development issues, trends, and products and present general membership programs to address those areas.
Benefits: Through sharing personal knowledge, committee members learn each other's best practices, new products and techniques in training. In addition, committee members have an opportunity to network and develop their own leadership skills.

Goals: Promote professional development via interaction with other HR professionals at monthly meetings and stay abreast of new recruitment tools, trends and strategies.

Goals: To provide educational programs in the areas of Comp & Benefits for MM SHRM members.
Methods: Through program planning with discussions focused on MM SHRM members' interests. Programs also provide a forum for members to share experience and address issues.

Goals: To provide technical expertise and program leadership on issues that impact workplace diversity, equal employment opportunity, fair employment laws, and affirmative action to MM SHRM members.
Methods: Facilitating discussion and networking among diversity and compliance professionals including coordinating quarterly meetings of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP) and Industry Liaison Group (ILG), by updating publications and through informational programming.
Benefits: Networking opportunities with EEO/Diversity practitioners and attorneys at the regular monthly meetings as well as the quarterly OFCCP ILG meetings. Learning opportunities, topic of the month discussions, and leadership opportunities.
