PHR/SPHR Certification Study Group At-A-Glance

100% Pass Rate in the 2009 Fall Study Group

  • Metro Milwaukee SHRM holds two sessions, which correspond to the two test windows, one in the spring and one in the fall.
  • Group meets once a week for 16 weeks, first week is orientation and the last week is review. At the review session Metro Milwaukee SHRM purchases the HRCI on-line PHR and SPHR pretest to go through as a group.
  • Meetings held in the fall at SEEK Careers/Staffing in Grafton and in spring at a Milwaukee location west of the city.
  • Group time is 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
  • The SHRM Learning System is used as the primary source of study material. The group reviews, tests, and discusses the HR body of knowledge using a structured learning plan that helps you focus and stay on track. There is a different facilitator for each of the 6 modules.
  • Metro Milwaukee SHRM offers material at a discounted rate.
    • The cost of the study group is $750, which includes the SHRM Learning system, pretests, HRCI on-line pretest, and facilitator for each module.
    • If they have their own material the cost of the study group is $200, which covers additional material, preparation tests and facilitators.
    • For reference, the Self-Directed SHRM Learning System (if not actively participating in a study group) costs $795 on your own.

  • Must be a Metro Milwaukee SHRM member to participate. If you are not currently a member, Join Now!
  • Upon receipt of participant’s payment the study material is ordered from SHRM through Metro Milwaukee SHRM.
  • Exam application and test fees are the responsibility of the member
  • Upon successfully passing the exam, Metro Milwaukee SHRM members are recognized with a PHR or SPHR Folio.

Recertification – It’s Easier than Re-Taking the Exam

The process to recertify your PHR/SPHR certification is fairly straight forward. You can do it all online at www.hrci.org . We all need 60 hours of activity every three years to get recertified – 15 of those must be strategic credit if you have SPHR certification. You should probably start a file to keep all documentation that proves you have attended the training needed for recertification.
