Government Relations
Together with our partners at the state level (WISHRM) and at the national level (SHRM), Metro Milwaukee SHRM serves as a valuable resource to legislators and regulators who are looking for a practitioner’s point of view regarding the potential impact of HR-related legislation on employers and employees, including the reasonableness of implementation and recordkeeping.Metro Milwaukee SHRM does everything from taking a position on an issue, to providing written analysis and testimony, to participating in coalitions working to support/delete legislation. In addition, and as part of our advocacy efforts, we have developed relationships with the local media, establishing ourselves as a valuable resource on HR issues.
Metro Milwaukee SHRM’s Advocacy Interest Group is a vital link between our members and local, state and national legislators and regulators. This has been one of the most aggressive periods on record for HR-related legislation – from health care, to union activity, to paid sick leave – there’s a lot going on.
Using programs, newsletters, the Web site, and e-blasts, the Advocacy Interest Group keeps our members on the cutting edge regarding emerging rules and legislation.
