Member Orientation-Hold the Date
Thursday, 19 August 2010 00:00
The date and location for our next Membership Orientation has been set – October 20 at the Radisson Hotel on
It wasn’t long ago that we referred to these as New Member Orientations, but we’ve made several changes that make them useful for members who are new and those who would like to become more involved.
At Member Orientations, we talk about Metro Milwaukee SHRM and all of the many activities in which we are involved. A particular focus is our Special Interest Groups (SIG) – subsets of our membership who are particularly interested in one aspect or another of the HR profession (Diversity, Talent Acquisition, or Performance & Development, to name a few).
Participation in a SIG or on a committee planning a program or event is a way to not only give back to your profession, but to meet people who have similar interests. Looking for an answer about a particularly perplexing HR issue? Chances are you can find your answer in one of our SIGs or through the network of people you can meet when you become more involved.
Mark your calendars! Member Orientation – October 20 - Radisson Hotel.
Details will follow soon….
PHR/SPHR Class Begins
Thursday, 19 August 2010 00:00
Another class of PHR/SPHR candidates will begin the process of preparing for their exams next week. This will be the last group that will test under SHRM’s existing testing requirements. Beginning next year, the eligibility requirements for taking the examinations will change. A new class will form in January in preparation for the Spring examination window. Look for details in the months ahead.
Professional certification such as PHR and SPHR help you stand out among your peers. While they are a demonstration of subject mastery, they are evidence of something more – a dedication to the profession. It’s in that spirit that we thank the many people involved with the Metro Milwaukee SHRM PHR/SPHR program. Our instructors are not only dedicated to the profession, but to passing on what they have learned.
Without question, one of the benefits of preparing for the examinations is the opportunity to learn from some of the best and to interact with your peers in a concentrated, group setting. Out of our classes come professional relationships that last a lifetime.
We wish this class well and encourage you to learn more about our PHR/SPHR program at www.mmshrm.org.
