Topic: Demystifying Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance Benefits

 

Description: Discussion of legal issues governing Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance law, including eligibility criteria; factors used by UI staff, LIRC, and the courts to define “misconduct” and “substantial fault” and the legal standard to determine disqualification for benefits; worker misclassification: overview of the tests in the Unemployment Insurance law that are used to determine if workers are employees or independent contractors; and next steps if an employee files an appeal.
